Superman’s charisma and ability to inspire hope, courage, trust, and a belief in the impossible in people is just as much, if not more, of his powers as his strength, heat vision, etc.
As Superman fights…I suddenly realize…the crowd is changing. Watching something they never thought they would see again. A dream long forgotten, but now…a dream returning to life. We didn’t need him back for his strength or powers. We didn’t need him back to fight for us. We needed Superman back to remind us…that nothing is impossible.
Batman (Superman|Batman: Night and Day)
I always found that part of the Superman mythos to be the most interesting. He’s made to bring out the best in people. That’s why he’s still one of my favorite superheroes, as cheesy as his character is or as naive as he comes off as. Superman is the ideal characteristics of a person; put into one man.
